Born from the will of an international group of scientists to gather and transfer the existing knowledge to the benefit of the sustainable development of mountain areas, Icalpe has preserved from its origins a specific approach, scientific in character, neutral, open to cooperation beyond the boundaries among a wide range of partners.
After initiation and coordination of a first series of European research projects, Icalpe has developed a diversity of activities, from studies and expertise works, to local development through inter-regional European and Euromediterranean cooperation, which remains the heart of its actions.
All efforts are targeted towards the search of new answers to deliver for the sustainable development from the local to European or Mediterranean level, putting emphasis on the dissemination and practical application of innovative solutions on a large scale-level.
