INTEGRADEV - Integrated Development Project in the program ECOS-OUVERTURE dedicated to cooperation with third countries - (1997-1999)
Objectives
The major objective of the project was to assist partners in third countries - Arad (Romania) - Lomza (Poland) - to develop methods and strategies for sustainable development through exchanges of experiences and adaptation expertise of member countries of the European Union - Liguria (Italy), Northern Scotland (Great Britain) and Alentejo (Portugal).
The project described mainly focused on the transfer of certain key instruments, which corresponded to specific expertise of partners in the U.S. and the urgent needs of third-country partners, including:

management methods and planning for regional and local development
-
training of actors who have a critical impact on regional and local development
-
cooperation between individuals and companies in the same production chain,
-
partnership between all stakeholders for local development.

Activities
Main technical areas
Beyond Module A - for the overall coordination, evaluation and dissemination of the project - the work program was organized in technical modules:
- (Module B) - Integrating production networks: improving integration with key production lines in the food sector (concept of "vertical integration")
- (Module C) - Integrating Local Development: improving the partnership between local actors (the concept of horizontal integration), with the objective of creating new livelihood opportunities and new forms of sustainable tourism and natural resource use .
RESULTS
Qualitative results

The qualitative results were expected to bring significant benefits to all partners:
- A culture of cooperation at local and inter-regional level
- A better understanding of the needs of exchange between East and West
- Better ability to promote, transfer and adaptation of new practices for regional development,
- A solid foundation for future cooperation within each region and among partners,
Quantitative results
Results on the ground, particularly in regions partners in third countries:

2 "pilot projects" to improve production chains selected

2 "Sketches of management strategies" to integrate the local development in the areas of testing,
-
4 master-theses, in relation to the exchange of expertise and local work in modules C and D,
-
7 feasibility studies for project monitoring measures such as "training for local administrators," "information center for food production chains", "action plan" to implement the draft management strategy in the test areas,
-
2 short films translated into 4 languages co-produced by all partners, a seminar in Scotland, a final conference in Liguria, and a number of local meetings and information seminars in third countries.
