ICALPE focused technical assistance for the design and coordination of project preparation
BACKGROUND Island farmers are experiencing very similar problems from one island to another and very different from the mainland. The difficulties are reinforced by geographic isolation and the low critical mass productions. To improve the efficiency of their agricultural development policies, defined in their national and regional plans, the island regions are close to best solve all the problems in each difficulty responding. Each island has great difficulties in developing its own system of innovation support for agriculture sector which is vital for their future. So starting from the similarity of their problems, the partner regions themselves the goal of building a common method of dissemination of innovation in the agricultural island, as a basis for further cooperation.
The overall project goal is to provide increased capacity MED islands of innovation in agriculture, through the creation of a new framework for cooperation in the form of a network, bringing together regional and transnational capabilities to innovation in public and private pools of competence. " The NETWORK AGRISLES mobilize them for programmed actions in a coordinated manner in the islands as part of the implementation of their regional policies.
PARTNERSHIP
ACTIVITIES Under component 3 partners provide the knowledge base needed to define a common methodology, identifying strategic areas for innovation in agriculture island, and the right tools and good practices from experiences shared them. Under Component 4 partners, based on the results of Component 3, define a common methodology and test on each island through pilot projects targeted at one sector and one or more innovation tools. Under Component 5, the partners define a common strategy of inter-island innovation in agriculture, preparing its application in each region and program following the project through the establishment of the transnational network of pools interpersonal skills island and the publication of a call for unique project.
The main achievements of this project will, in addition to the quarterly reports and summary reports, a methodological guide and a AGRISLES Pact for innovation for agriculture in the islands, based on the method AGRISLES. A single call for proposals will be published before the end of the project.
RESULTS The main project results will be sharing experiences and best practices resulting in the development of methodological tools and strategies to meet the challenges of agriculture in the islands and aimed at strengthening innovation. The project will be relayed later through public policies of each region, and funded by the measure 1.2.4 of the European Rural Development Programme for "cooperation in innovation. "

AGRISLES - Project presented under the MED Programme 2007-2013 that focuses on the design and development of a transnational strategy for innovation in agriculture between the islands of the Mediterranean - (2008-2012)
OBJECTIVES
The partnership consists of a sample of islands experiencing great difficulty in effectively develop their own support system of innovation for all sectors of the local economy. Therefore, the islands of Corsica (France), leader, Baleares (Spain), Azores (Portugal), Sicily (Italy), Sardinia (Italy), North Aegean (Greece), Thessaly (Greece) and Cyprus wish to coordinate their efforts and pool their diverse and complementary skills.
